Child of God or Child of the Devil?

Posted at 9:00 am | Last Edit on 05/27/2010 | Post by pastor

I read a something the other day that I truly agree with. It went something like this: "Whether you marry a Child of God or a Child of the Devil, you still have to deal with the Father-in-Law." It means that when you are choosing a mate, you better be sure he/she is a saved Child of God if you are a Child of God. And if you're not a Child of God and marry one of His children, you'll always be in His crosshairs. I am fortunate. I have great in-laws who genuinely seem to like me, even love me. But I married one of God's daughters, and that's a truth He reminds me of quite often (Like Right Now!). How we treat our neighbor is important to God, but our spouse is, and always will be, our closest neighbor. I am convinced that fewer divorces would occur if we prayed for our spouse, loved them as we love ourselves, and generally treated them as if they truly were a Child of God. Contact me and let me know you've read this Blog. I look forward to hearing from you!

Marriage

MARRIAGE QUOTES: Love at first sight never happens before breakfast. If you are a child of God and you marry a child of the devil, you will be sure to have constant trouble with your father-in-law. Courtship is that time during which the female decides whether or not she can do any better. In the word wedding, the we comes before the I. What a married couple should save for their old age is each other. A successful marriage is always a triangle: a man, a woman, and God. Most of those marriage quotes are true but no one ever said more good things about marriage, in fewer words, than Joseph Addison did when he wrote, "Two persons who have chosen each other out of all the species, with the design to be each other's mutual comfort and entertainment, have, in that action, bound themselves to be good-humored, affable, discreet, forgiving, patient, and joyful with respect to each other's frailties and perfections to the end of their lives." If you want a better spouse, then you should strive to be a better spouse. Its when we realize that its up to us to make this thing called marriage work that it does work. Sometimes it takes one to hold on to a marriage until the other partner begins to work too. David Reuben wrote: "A marriage is like a long trip in a rowboat. If one passenger starts to rock the boat, the other one has to steady it. Otherwise, they will both go to the bottom together." One of my all time favorite comic strips was"Peanuts," drawn by Charles Schulz. In one Charlie Brown says to his friend, "My Granpa and Granma have been married for fifty years!" The friend replies, "They're lucky, aren't they?" Charlie Brown answers. "Granma says it isn't luck--it's skill!" May you be skillful at the most important thing you will ever do. Easter

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. As a child I loved the new clothes, the candy and the hunts. After I became a believer in Jesus Christ and made Him my Lord and Savior it took on a whole new meaning for me. I still enjoy the new clothes, the candy and the hunts, but I now celebrate a risen Savior, my new life in Christ and look forward to Heaven. My granparents had a picture of heaven in their bedroom when I was a child. I would often stop and stare at it for long periods of time. Easter reminds me that I will one day see them again and spend eternity with them and most importantly, my Lord! I hope Easter is special for you because you also know the Savior. He makes life worth living and death only a doorway. Your Brother in Christ, Mark III
